From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of heroes who will separate from the main group to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look out of place, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to go next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his own means, entering the secret base, assaulting the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the party access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Questers and Schemers tables.
Fans can anticipate learning which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
